The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902, First Commercial Edition). Comments & Item Features First Edition. A complete but damaged copy of the scarce 1902 First Commercial Edition. Includes grey floral pattern endpapers, colour illustrations, and "wept big tears" on p. 51 (changed to "shed" in later editions).

Brown/grey paper-covered boards with pictorial inlay, presentable to front and rear but with a little rubbing and thumb-marking. Spine is missing, exposing binding, and leaving the boards feeling loose.

First 8 pages and front endpaper are also loose, having split from the binding, and bear some sellotape marks from a previous attempted repair. Binding otherwise generally a little loose throughout. Pages generally bear some light thumb-marking and browning to edges throughout, with some additional abrasion and creasing to occasional individual page edges, not impacting upon the printed content, which remains clear and well-preserved throughout. Some tissue pages loosely inserted for protection. Previous owner's inscription neatly in ink to first title page.
