Freeman Hunt American Anecdotes 1st ed 1830 2 vols in 1 contemporary binding. Two volumes bound in one. Original 1830 edition of collected anecdotes from the Revolution and Early America! Both volumes bound in one contemporary 1/2 green calf over marbled boards binding!
This is a collection of almost 500 anecdotes from early American history and the Revolution compiled by Freeman Hunt leading up to the 1830 publication. The collection includes figures both great and small from Franklin to little known colonialists ranging from a single page to many pages in length and all indexed at the end of each volume (Anecdote numbering is contiguous but pagination isnt). Original editions are pretty scare and often just a single volume and in tatters, so finding both volumes together in collectors grade condition is almost impossible to find. Bound in contemporary 1/2 green pebbled calf over marbled boards, 4 raised bands with gilt rules and decorations and titled in gilt, marbled endpapers, red headbands and all edges red.Light penciling throughout (little x or = next to some anecdote numbers as some kind of POs reference), some light and scattered foxing, but overall internally crisp with one leaf poorly bound and out of alignment Binding with some light restoration.
