CIRCA 1350 ORIGINAL HANDWRITTEN VELLUM MANUSCRIPT FROM A VERY IMPORTANT CHOIRBOOK OR HYMNAL. An extraordinary piece - would look striking framed.

It comprises one leaf / two pages measuring a large 14.6" x 23.2" (37cm x 59cm). This is on very thick vellum, and created between 1330 and 1370. This is an exceptionally rare and beautiful leaf. It is likely of Italian origin. This Latin leaf is from. It is on very thick vellum. The size of this leaf is extraordinary and would have been created for an important cathedral in Europe.

This would have been used by a large choir so it could be read from a distance. There is one large decorated initial. I acquired this from Vermont, USA.

It had been stored in the. This means they missed out on the Victorian era's propensity to cut out initials and put them in scrap books. This has never been on the market before.

Clearly, the leaf comes from a "high end" scriptorium due to the size and quality of the work. This would have been created whilst the Bubonic Plague was raging in Europe leading to a loss of about one third of the population.

The leaf went on to survive many natural disasters and wars to have likely been brought to the US via the migration of Europeans during the US Colonial period.
