Sur les hémorragies internes de l'utérus, qui a obtenu le prix d'émulation au concours ouvert (en 1818) par la Société de médecine de Paris, Par Mme. Veuve Boivin, Chez Gabon et Bechet, A Paris, 191 pp plus errata, half leather, 8.5 x 5.25, 8vo. Light wear to extremities with scuffing to corners and joints. Light staining to leather with scuffing and toning to marbled boards. Bottom compartment of spine is chipped and mostly missing. Spine abraded with wear, nicely stamped. Old hand ownerships on fly. Contemporary binding with "fresh" end papers.. Likely done at the middle or turn of the 19th century. Old hand ownership on title page top right corner.

Light toning throughout with typical instances of age stain and foxing. She has been called one of the most important women in medicine in the 19th century.

She invented a new pelvimeter and a vaginal speculum. Her medical books were translated to different languages and used for 150 years. She was one of the first midwives to use a stethoscope to listen to a fetal heartbeat.
