Octavo, original full bound black cloth with gold gilt lettering on spine. First American Edition, First Printing of Animal Farm, Orwells timeless allegorical novel a scathing satire on a downtrodden societys blind march towards totalitarianism. An exceptionally well-preserved example in its Original Dust Jacket.

"A political fable that partly recounts, in an allegorical mode, the aftermath of the Russian revolution, and partly illustrates a belief in the universal tendency of power to corrupt" (Stringer, 22). " Animal Farm is [Orwells] masterpiece" (Connolly 93). Original full-bound black cloth boards present well with front clean and rear presenting with only a few light stains, the largest about one-inch in diameter. Moderate rubbing to corners and head and foot of spine with a bit of loss.

Gilt title to spine well-retained with publisher exhibiting partial loss. Text blocks unmarked with a tiny bit of spotting to top. Internally mostly clean and bright. Name and address penned to front pastedown and name with notes penciled opposite to front endpaper. A few small blue stains near gutter of same.

46 with some deterioration to same and to opposite page. Dust Jacket presents fairly well. Panels present partially clean with some scattered stains and marks throughout. Heavy wear to hinges and creases with significant chipping to corners of same causing loss. Open and closed tears to edges and creases.

Chipping to head and foot of spine with loss. Toning to rear panel with several red stains. A bit of toning to flaps and bookstore price sticker to front.
