Winston Churchill London to Ladysmith Via Pretoria First Edition 1900. Winston Churchills personal account of his first few months during the Second Boer War initially as a war correspondent for The Morning Post. It details his capture and subsequent escape from a Boer prison that made him famous in the UK. After his escape he joined the army as well as continuing as a war correspondent and was involved in lifting the seige of Ladysmith and taking of Pretoria.

Hardback light brown covers with black and red lettering to cover with a picture of an armoured train, gilt lettering to spine. No dust jacket, 498, printed pages plus 2 pages of advertising of Churchill's other works and 32 pages of advertising of Longmans other publications. Includes 4 maps (1 coloured and 3 foldout), and 4 plans. The book is in good condition. There is wear to the covers consistent with age, the fold out maps are in good condition with wear to the edges.

There is a newspaper cartoon and poem of the period which has been kept in the book and slightly discolured two pages. We have included a photos so that you judge the overall condition of the book. The book can be posted worldwide.
