Red Circle #3 LEG ARTIST 1949 GGA paperback Near Fine by Gene Harvey
New York: Red Circle, 1949. First paperback edition; the first edition of this so-called romantic novel was published during WW2 and is nearly impossible to find. One would prefer this edition anyway because this copy of Red Circle (#3) is not just MINT, square, and UNREAD (extremely rare thus), it also sports fantastically alluring post-war cover art. "Leg Artist" is a term for a man who knows what he likes in a woman. This is the story of a model named Lee Martin who became a media darling, then the victim of a notorious leg artist, then the victim of the evil tabloids. Edgy, despite the sexiness of the cover: a post-war piece peek at the emerging dark side of media and the price one pays for disloyalty. RED CIRCLE books was founded by Martin Goodman, master of pulp fiction, who founded Lion Library which published Noir novelists Jim Thompson & David Goodis. He also founded the company which became Marvel comics. A lot of history to a little paperback! Any book returnable for any reason.
