The binding is square and tight and in smart condition. There is some fading and bumping to the spine, and a few very small marks, but the book is otherwise in lovely, almost Near Fine, condition, almost.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from marks or damage, save some toning as to be expected. The book is housed in its first issue jacket, with the original price of 18/- net to the front flap.
There is some shelf wear to the edges, creasing and rubbing to the panels, and darkening to the spine. In spite of these small points, the jacket remains in very good condition, with the x25 to the bottom corner of the rear panel denoting the first issue jacket. It complements the book perfectly. In all, this is a smart first edition of this omnibus of two of le Carré's first two novels, originally published in 1961 and 1962 The omnibus was published in 1964 to capitalise on the success of'The Spy Who Came in from the cold'. It is a rare find in smart condition, and would make an excellent addition to any le Carré collection.
