The History of Johnny Quae Genus, the little Foundling of the late Fr. The text by Combe, illustrated with twenty-four coloured aquatints by Rowlandson. Complete with "Error in the Paging" errata slip inserted. Contemporary half-calf and marbled boards. With ornate gilt decorations and five raised bands on the spine, gilt foredges, marbled endpapers.

Twenty-four full-page plates, colored aquatints by. Directions to the binder for the placing of the Plates on reverse of last page. Bookplate of Gustavia Adolphia Senff, owner of some remarkable NY properties and wife of Charles Senff, Director of the American Sugar Refining Company. Slight foxing to a few pages.

Binding slightly scuffed at edges and spine ends, not affecting integrity of book. The last of the authentic Combe-Rowlandson Dr. Syntax series, whose success prompted numerous imitations. Originally issued in eight monthly parts.
