Antique Tunnel or Peephole book of the CHAMBRE DES DEPUTES (Chamber of Deputies) measures 8" x 5 1/2" closed, opening to approx 22 1/4 with paste on hand-colored pictorial cover. Tunnel or Peephole books are three-dimensional scenes created by a set of pages in an accordion-like structure so that the rear of the book is visible along with the earlier scenes from a viewing hole at top or front of the book. The hole in this book is at the front door allowing a view of the 5 different panels as one scene. Each scene has intricate cutouts and is hand colored.

Light cover rubbing and extremity wear; foxing and light soiling to front paste on which is separating from the cover at the lower left 1 1/4; light foxing. A rare example of a delicate item.
