Ed Peter Lombard Sentences Bible Commentary Medieval Catholic Doctrine. Sentences by Peter Lombard was a 12. This collection of writings and commentary was one of the most important pieces of theological literature for centuries; in fact, it was required of all medieval theology students to provide a commentary on Lombards Sentences. Some of the most famous commentaries on this work were written by Aquinas, Bonaventure, Ockham, and Scotus. Lombard focused a lot of ideas in his Sentences around the concept of the trinity both in the sense of the Holy Trinity, but also in the human sense: mind, love, and knowledge.

Therefore, when the mind knowns itself and loves itself, there remains a trinity, that is the mind, love, and knowledge. Lombard arranged quotes from the Bible in chapters surrounding questions. This was one of the main reasons this work had so much popularity the questions went unanswered and scholars could create their own reactions.

This book became one of the earliest written works to influence church doctrine, especially when it comes to the divinity of Christ. The Council of Trent adopted Lombards position and official doctrine in the 16. Peter Landry was a publisher from Lugduni in the late 16.

His works, other than Lombardi, include works on African witchcraft and demonology, secrets of European nobles, and other esoteric subjects. Lugduni : Sumptibus Petri Landry, 1593.
