Robert Capa Death in the Making Gerda Taro Original 1938 HC Spanish Civil War
Lacking the scarce dust jacket. Scarce first edition of this remarkable photographic history of the Spanish Civil War. In order to photograph the horrors of the conflict, Robert Capa and Gerda Taro followed the Republican battalions into perilous action and risked their lives daily. The result gathered in this book is a collection of 145 stunning photographs. There was also a tragic consequence to the photographers' intrepidity as Gerda Taro, Robert Capa's companion and professional photography partner, was indeed killed in a Rebel counter-attack, crushed by a tank, one year before the publication of this work.
Light wear to the boards. Heavy foxing to boards near the spine.
Scattered light foxing to edges of the boards. Darkening to the fold at the pastedowns and endpapers. Light tanning to page edges.
