THE GENUS IRIS BY WILLIAM RICKATSON DYKES CAMBRIDGE 1913 47 COLOR PLATES FOLIO. Attention all Iris lovers; here is the book of books as concerns the Genus Iris. This very large-folio size (11 ¾ x 19 x 1 ¾ inches, 245 pages) was published by the University Press, Cambridge, U. Dated 1913 and I believe, the First Edition (and perhaps the only edition).

It is bound in green cloth with a quarter spine in leather and with gilt titles on cover and spine. This book is lavishly illustrated, with forty-seven coloured drawings by F. Round, one coloured plate of seeds by Miss R. Cardew, and thirty line drawings by C.

The color plates are presented each with a tissue guard, all of which appear to be intact. Please see the photos of the Table of Contents and the List of Plates for your further information. As I expect you will understand, this book, especially in such good condition, given it large and unwieldy size, is now quite scarce, if not outright rare (only four copies found online). This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are rubbed, along the leather gutter and bumped at the corners and spine tips but nothing too extreme (please see the photos). The gilt titles are still fully legible and attractive. Inside, the book is unmarked and while there is some minor foxing to the early and late pages, this does not affect the interior pages, the plates or the tissue-guards.

The color plates on their special glossy paper are particularly clean and presentable. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound.
